Installing a roof window is an elegant and quick way to bring more light into your loft or mansard. There are different types of roof windows: wooden, PU-coated wooden windows, and those made of plastic, and aluminium. Some are side-hung, others are panoramic and open like a balcony door. We recommend you also add blinds, shading solutions, or shutters to control light and heat levels more easily. The height and width of a roof window will depend on the dimensions of the sloping wall, but they’re usually installed at a height between 90 and 200 cm. If there’s enough space and the walls are high enough, you can make a combination of vertical and sloping windows, and allow even more light into your room. Generally speaking, we recommend you do your research on applicable regulations in your local council or another authority to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
