Why do you need a well? A well can be dug or drilled to access potable water, a heat pump, irrigation, water supply. According to the Planning Act, a well is considered an outbuilding, which means that you have to obtain a decision issued by the authority in charge of granting planning permissions to be able to build one. Therefore, you must also obtain a technical plan and supporting documents, as well as a license to abstract water, also issued by the relevant water management authority. If you plan to install a heating system based on a heat pump, make sure you install it in compliance with the applicable plumbing and wiring standards. It’s always a good idea to install a submersible pump of a great capacity to ensure an optimal water flow and power consumption. If water is located a bit deeper, heat pumps are equipped with a geothermal probe. Check out other advice we’ve prepared, and use our calculator to see the cost of these works.
