Grinding is performed on a poured concrete slab, which has to have certain thickness and be smooth. Grinding of concrete may even render a decorative floor. However, not every type of concrete can be ground, but only those classified as MB 30 or higher. Grinding a prepared concrete slab is a staged process leading to desired thickness, which depends on the concrete hardness and desired finish. Grinding is performed by special diamond grinders. The gloss level of polished concrete—from a matt finish to a mirror-like surface—depends on the size of the grinding disc you use. This kind of concrete looks good both inside and outside, it has a monolithic appearance, and is very strong and durable. If used outside, the resulting exterior surface will have a high gloss finish, but will require frost protection. Grinding is also performed after constructing a concrete road, which is supposed to be tarmacked, and after concrete slurry removal.
